Canal Meteo is a media outlet specialising in meteorology and climate.

2. Who we are and how we work

We are scientific and transparent. Behind this map are meteorologists and data specialists who work with public information. We publish the method, the sources and the limitations of each indicator, with its version and date, so that anyone can check where each figure comes from and how far it goes.

We are independent. We do not work for the property sector: we are not paid by estate agents, developers, property portals or insurers to show or hide results, we do not sell user data and we do not rank developments or companies. Canal Meteo has no sponsorships or commercial relationships with insurers, banks or energy companies.

We correct errors. If someone spots an error, we review it within 7 calendar days and keep a record of the correction.

3. What this service is

The My Climate Risk is an information and outreach tool. It has two parts:

Its aim is to help you understand the surroundings of a building and to know what to ask and whom to ask. It does not include a model of pluvial flooding (from intense local rainfall).

4. What it is not

The report is not: - a valuation or property appraisal (Orden ECO/805/2003), and it gives no price figures or figures for «loss of value»; - a certification or «cadastral information» from the Dirección General del Catastro; - a land registry extract (nota simple) or information from the Land Registry (Registro de la Propiedad); - an official flood-risk report or certificate, which only the river basin authority or the competent water authority can issue; - a prediction that a property will suffer damage, or of when. The index is not a probability; - a substitute for AEMET warnings, civil protection plans or the instructions of the authorities in an emergency.

5. Sources, licences and attributions

All third-party data have been transformed by Canal Meteo (clipped, resampled, combined or aggregated). The sources do not take part in the service, and do not sponsor or endorse it. These are the attribution lines shown on the map, in the building sheet and in the Note:

6. Methodology and limitations

Score (0-100 per hazard): each hazard is scored with published rules and classified into four levels (low, medium, high, very high). The overall level of the building sheet and of the Note is that of the highest hazard (flooding, heat, wildfire, wind or subsidence): a low risk does not offset a high one. Tropical nights and drought are scored and explained but do not count towards the overall level, because they are area or municipal data. The rules are editorial and provisional. It is not a probability or an official classification.

Main limitations: official mapping has a given resolution and given return periods, and it does not reflect recent works, local defences or the exact elevation of each entrance or floor. The assignment to a building is based on the cadastral footprint and may be shifted by several metres. Climate projections are scenarios from a single model, not certainties. The age or floor of a building does not, on its own, show its current condition (renovations, insulation).

7. Rules on flood zones

Under current rules (Reglamento del Dominio Público Hidráulico), new buildings in a flood zone must have an entry in the Land Registry and a responsible declaration (declaración responsable) from the developer. A reform is going through the approval process that would extend the obligation to inform the buyer on sales; until it is approved, we do not treat it as in force. To find out the official status of a property, consult the river basin authority, a notary and the Land Registry.

8. Accuracy, updates and correction of errors

We update the layers when the sources publish new versions. Date of the last update: 23/10/2026.

Spotted an error? Write to us at hola@canalmeteo.tv stating the address or the cadastral reference and the reason (with a source, if you can). We will review your message within 7 calendar days and reply to you. Where appropriate, we will correct the data or add a visible note in the report; if the error is in the official source, we will explain this to you and, where possible, report it to the body that produces it. As a media outlet, we also respect the right of rectification.

9. Liability

We produce the service with due care and from official sources, but we cannot guarantee that the data are complete, accurate or up to date. Decisions to buy, rent, insure, finance or carry out works must be based on the relevant official information and professional advice. Nothing in this notice limits the rights that consumer law gives you. The full terms are in the Terms of use.

10. Personal data and cookies

We do not show or process owners' data (name, tax ID (NIF)) or cadastral values, and reports by address are not indexed by search engines. For the street-level building sheet you need an account with an email address; payments for the Note are handled by Stripe and we do not see your card details. We only use a technical session cookie and browser storage to remember your preferences, with no analytics or advertising cookies. Everything is explained in the Privacy policy.

11. Intellectual property

The texts, design, method, scores and software are © 2026 Poniente Media Group LLC (Canal Meteo). Third-party data keep their own licences, listed in section 5. The conditions for reusing the reports are in the Terms of use.

12. Governing law
